Second set of LIFE-MOS course completed in November

Date: 08/12/2011

Between the 5th and 8th of November the last LIFE MOS course of 2011 took place on the Cruise Roma vessel on the crossing between Barcelona and Civitavecchia. 53 students from 3 different European institutions attended the course, and went home with a broader view of intermodal maritime logistics.
The LIFE (Logistics Intermodal Freight Enhancement) MOS courses aim to provide today's logistics and international trade university students and tomorrow's operators training in intermodal logistics, short-distance maritime services and the motorways of the sea, and to bring them closer to the environment, the operations and the people involved in providing these services.

In October-November 3 LIFE MOS courses were organised. The institutions that participated were:
- Hogeschool Gent (Belgium)
- Katholieke Hogeschool Zuid-West-Vlaanderen KATHO (Belgium)
- HUB Hogeschool Universiteit Brussel – HUB (Belgium)
- Universitat Abat Oliba CEU (Spain)
- ILI Logística Internacional (Spain)

The 3rd LIFE MOS course was organised for staff working in companies, the media and management related to freight transport and importing and exporting companies. The course was jointly organised by the Port of Barcelona and the Escola Europea de Short Sea Shipping. The participants were professional clients of the Port.

The courses for the postgraduate students were taught in English, and the LIFE MOS Gloss course for the professionals was taught in Spanish. The general impressions of the courses were positive. In addition, the first week of November also witnessed the first edition of LIFE RAIL Cargo course of LIFE. Thirty-one professionals from Portuguese companies took part in this new and innovative training of the Escola, which analysed the railway-maritime intermodality with a focus on the Portuguese market.
