Slovenia: ESI Funds finance strategic motorway construction, significantly improving travel to Croatia

Date: 12/05/2016

The project, part of the TEN-T network, also reduces congestion and bottlenecks in Slovenia.

The European Commission approved a major project worth €203.6 million with a contribution from the Cohesion Fund of €63.5 million. The project aims at building a new 13 km-long section of the A4 motorway from Slivnica – Gruškovje to Dra┼żenci – International Border Crossing Gruškovje, in the Eastern part of Slovenia.

This investment will improve the connectivity between Slovenia, Croatia and Austria and between the individual centres within the country. It will increase traffic safety and the operating speed on this motorway section and will help reduce the pollution levels caused by the traffic.
