FundaciĆ³n Valenciaport launches a new newsletter about SSS and rail services

Date: 21/12/2016

In October, Fundación Valenciaport launched a new product in the field of transport statistics: a newsletter about the SSS and rail transport services on offer from Spanish ports. The aim is to improve on the information provided by earlier publications, the Lineport and LineRail newsletters. These databases, developed by the Fundación Valenciaport, gather information about regular short sea shipping (SSS) and rail services that guarantee departure times and frequencies that can be used by clients with a large volume of cargo or by several clients, and which are therefore a reflection of the regular transport services available.

Fundación Valenciaport has spent over a decade working on building and expanding these two databases, which were designed to address the lack of uniform and consistent statistics about transport services on offer. As a means of disseminating the main results, Fundación Valenciaport established the Lineport newsletter (in 2009) and the LineRail newsletter (in 2011). These biannual publications provided an extensive array of indicators on the SSS and rail services on offer from Spanish ports.

This new publication represents an adaptation of the content to meet the most common needs of its readers, taking advantage of the extensions made to the abovementioned databases and redesigning the presentation format.

The indicators contained in this latest newsletter will allow readers to track the status of SSS and rail services on offer from Spanish ports and will help promote the analysis potential offered by the Lineport and LineRail tools, which remain available to readers for any additional queries. The new newsletter can be downloaded here:
