First motorways of the sea conference in Trieste

Date: 13/04/2017

On 28th March, more than 200 operators gathered in Trieste (Italy) to participate in the first "Motorways of the sea - the maritime dimension of the Ten-T network. Ports and Logistic Chain Innovation for Transport Connectivity" conference”.

The conference was opened by Brian Simpson, EU coordinator for the motorways of the sea, and Debora Serracchiani, president of the Friuli Venezia Giulia region. Speakers talked about opportunities for Trieste that are arising from the expansion of the motorways of the sea, a logistics corridor linking Turkey, the Friuli Venezia Giulia region and southern Germany, and smart technologies used at the port of Trieste.

Since January 2014, the Ten-T network stands for a new policy in the EU. It “aims to close the gaps between member states' transport networks, remove bottlenecks, and promote transport chains for passengers and freight, while keeping up with the latest technological trends …with a budget of EUR 24.05 billion up to 2020.” (rf)
