Escola Europea de Short Sea Shipping? Please, just Escola Europea

Date: 18/12/2017

More than 10 years have passed since the Escola Europea was founded. At the beginning it focused its actions on the thriving Short Sea Shipping sector, but throughout the years the Escola has diversified its activities. Short Sea Shipping as object of training was complemented by railway, port operations, transport networks, maritime groupage, international commerce, temperature-controlled supply chains, alternative fuels and many more subjects. Our actions spectrum got wider and the Escola took up consultancy and project management, always related to intermodal transport and ports.

The Escola simplifies its name into Escola Europea.

The main adjective Europea stays, for its symbolic value linked to the founding values that inspired the European Union, as it is reflected in the consolidated version of the Treaty on European Union: “Article 2: The Union is founded on the values of respect for human dignity, freedom, democracy, equality, the rule of law and respect for human rights, including the rights of persons belonging to minorities. These values are common to the Member States in a society in which pluralism, nondiscrimination, tolerance, justice, solidarity and equality between women and men prevail.”

Short Sea Shipping is replaced by Intermodal Transport, more consistent with the current activity.

The new branding wants to boost the name Escola Europea, which is how most people know us. The new URL is escolaeuropea.eu: an easier one to make the transition smoother.
