MSPC co-sponsors participants at the MOST (Motorways of the Sea) Management course

Date: 19/07/2018

Over the past months, the Malta Shortsea Promotion Centre (MSPC) has been in talks with Escola Europea de Short Sea Shipping to organise a course suitable for Maltese participants, and agreed to send participants to the MOST (Motorways of the Sea) Management Course.

The MOST Management course is held on board Grimaldi vessel “mv Cruise Roma” whilst sailing on the route between Barcelona and Civitavecchia. The objective of this course is to offer a complete training in intermodal maritime logistics, short sea shipping services and motorways of the sea to professionals and logistics executives.

In line with its mission to promote short sea initiatives, MSPC offered to sponsor the course related costs and invited its members to nominate candidates who wish to participate in MOST Management course.

The first group participated in the course between the 19th & 22nd May together with students from Université d'Evry-Val-d'Essonne (France) & VIVES University (Belgium).

During the 4 days on board the MV Cruise Roma, the students experienced a combination of workshops which included a visit to the Port of Barcelona, viewing loading operation, visits to the bridge & stowing operations and theoretical content covering Integration of Intermodal logistics, Energy Efficiency, Types of Operations & related costs. All of this was presented by a team of lecturers who are experts in their own field with years of experience in the industry.

Similar courses and opportunities are beneficial to local logistics companies who want to invest in their staff and increase the level of professionalism of the Maltese shipping industry, and the MSPC is planning to send another group in the near future.
